China Great Wall Motors' Brazil factory was completed and put into production, Brazilian President Lula attended
On the 15th local time, the completion and production of China Great Wall Motors' Brazil factory and the launch of the first Haval H6GT were held in Irassemapolis, São Paulo.
Brazilian President Lula, Vice President Alkine, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, Minister of Labor Luis Marigno, Great Wall Motor President Mu Feng, and Great Wall International President Shi Qingke attended the ceremony together.
Great Wall Motors' Brazil factory was formerly the Daimler Group factory. After transformation and upgrading, it has become an intelligent production base. As Great Wall Motors' third largest complete vehicle manufacturing center overseas, the factory will radiate to the Latin American market and become the company's hub connecting the Eurasian, Southeast Asia and Latin American markets; its completion and commissioning marks the in-depth promotion of Great Wall Motors' globalization strategy in Latin America, and also shows the new look of China's automobile industry's high-quality "going overseas" and reflects the innovative practice of the integrated development of the China-Pakistan automobile industry chain.
Lula personally signed the front cover of the first offline model Haval H6GT, meaning that the car completed the last process and is about to enter the market. After the ceremony, he also took a photo with factory workers.
In his speech, Lula said that the key to attracting foreign investment and promoting domestic investment is to provide political stability, thereby bringing economic, social and fiscal predictability. China has become Brazil's most important trading partner, and the completion of Great Wall Motors' Brazil factory is of great significance to Brazil's industrial development. "This means that Brazil will have cutting-edge technology production capacity and be able to make cars that compete with the world; it also means creating jobs for Brazilians, increasing income and improving their expertise."
Lula said that Brazil is open to foreign investment and welcomes more companies to invest and start businesses in Brazil, create jobs, and promote national modernization and fair development. He hopes that Great Wall Motor will build Brazil into a production base in Latin America. The Brazilian government is willing to provide help to enterprises and welcome Chinese companies to invest in Brazil.
Zhu Qingqiao, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, pointed out that in the 51 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, it has always regarded each other's development as an opportunity. It is now entering a golden period of building a community with a shared future and promoting the docking of development strategies. China-Pakistan cooperation has not only achieved fruitful results in traditional fields such as energy, agriculture, and communications, but has expanded to emerging fields such as digital economy, green economy, and artificial intelligence more quickly. In the past two years, under the incentives of policies such as the "Green Mobility and Innovation Plan (Mover)", investment and cooperation in the automobile industry has become a new highlight in China-Pakistan relations. Chinese companies invest in building factories in Brazil, promote green travel and industrial chain integration, bringing technology, employment and innovation, and helping Brazil's industrialization and sustainable development.
Great Wall Motors President Mu Feng said that the Brazilian factory not only reflects the company's firm commitment to the Brazilian market, but also a new starting point for creating a future with Latin American partners. Great Wall Motors will continue to adhere to the "new four modernizations" concept of "localized production capacity, localized operation, cross-cultural brand, and safe supply chain", follow international quality standards, and provide high-reliability automotive products for the Latin American market. The factory's annual production capacity will gradually increase from 20,000 vehicles to 50,000 vehicles, directly creating more than 1,000 jobs. The first batch of models to be put into production include the HAVALH9, POERP30 and HAVALH6, the Haval H9 and POERP30 pickup trucks will be launched in Brazil in September.
The Great Wall Brazil factory covers an area of about 1.2 million square meters and has a construction area of 94,000 square meters. It is equipped with a welding workshop, robot coating line, assembly line, and energy supply and logistics system. The factory has collinear production capabilities for hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and diesel-powered multi-energy models.
Since entering the Brazilian market in 2021, Great Wall Motors has achieved annual sales of 29,000 vehicles in three years, ranking 14th in the market. In the first half of this year, sales in Brazil reached 15,700 vehicles, an increase of 19.8% year-on-year, 17 percentage points higher than the industry.
