The global total stainless steel production in the first half of 2025 reached 31.9 million tons

Recently, the World Stainless Steel Association released data for the second quarter of 2025. Data shows that the global total production of stainless steel smelting furnaces in the first six months of 2025 was 31.9 million tons. From April to June, global stainless steel production increased by 5.0% month-on-month compared with the previous quarter to 16.361 million tons, an increase of 3.1% compared with the same period in 2024.

During the same period, European stainless steel production fell by 5.1% year-on-year and 4.1% month-on-month to 1.542 million tons; the United States' stainless steel production increased by 7.8% year-on-year and 1.1% month-on-month to 559,000 tons.

In Asia (excluding China and South Korea), from April to June 2025, stainless steel production increased by 4.1% year-on-year and decreased by 2.2% month-on-month to 3.491 million tons; while China's stainless steel production during the same period was 10.544 million tons, a year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 3.9% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 9.6%.
