Trump signs executive order to launch new artificial intelligence "Genesis Project"
According to CBS, on November 24, local time, the White House issued a statement stating that President Trump signed an executive order to launch a new national program "Project Genesis" aimed at using artificial intelligence (AI) to transform scientific research methods and accelerate scientific discovery.
According to the statement, the order directs the Department of Energy to create an artificial intelligence experimental platform that integrates U.S. supercomputers and unique data assets to generate scientific foundation models and provide support for robotics laboratories.
The order directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST) to coordinate this national initiative and integrate data and infrastructure across the federal government.
The statement said that the Secretary of Energy, APST, and the Special Advisor for Artificial Intelligence and Encryption Technology will work with innovators in academia and the private sector to support and strengthen Project Genesis.
The statement also stated that the Trump administration plans to significantly improve the efficiency and impact of federal research and development within ten years through the "Genesis Project."
