    China and several Pacific island countries signed the "Framework Agreement to Enhance Economic Partnership"

    According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce of China, on November 4, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a collective meeting with Qiu Yong, Minister of Resources and Development of the Federated States of Micronesia, Ritter, Minister of Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Cooperation of Kiribati, Toma, Minister of Phosphate Mines of Nauru, Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Vanuatu, and Ali, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications of Fiji. After the meeting, Minister Wang Wentao and representatives of the five countries signed the "Framework Agreement to Enhance Economic Partnership" (referred to as the "Framework Agreement").
    The "Framework Agreement" includes the preamble and objectives, principles, scope of negotiations, contact points, institutional arrangements, future development, entry into force, modification and termination, etc. China and relevant Pacific island countries agreed to carry out flexible and pragmatic negotiations around specific issues such as trade in goods, trade in services, investment, rules, and practical cooperation. By concluding institutional arrangements, they will expand bilateral trade, support Pacific island countries in attracting investment, accelerate industrialization and agricultural modernization, and deeply participate in global industrial chain and supply chain cooperation to achieve common development between China and Pacific island countries and build a closer China-Pacific island country community with a shared future.
