The United States imposes 50% tariff on Indian goods

On August 25, local time, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a preview notice, intending to impose a 50% tariff on Indian goods from 0:00 on August 27.

The notice states that the tariffs will apply to “all Indian goods imported for consumption or warehousing and withdrawal for consumption”.

US President Trump signed an executive order on August 6, imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian products imported to the United States on the grounds that India "imports Russian oil in direct or indirect ways." The announcement stated that with some exceptions, the new tariff measures will be implemented 21 days after the executive order is announced.

According to the executive order signed by Trump on July 31, the United States will impose a 25% tariff on Indian goods imported to the United States starting from August 7. After the additional tariffs announced on the 6th, India's goods imported to the United States will generally apply a 50% tariff rate.

In response, India said that the US's imposition of tariffs on India is "unfair, unfair and unreasonable", and India will "take all necessary actions" to safeguard national interests.
