Global manufacturing PMI rose to 49.5% in June 2025
In June, the global manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) was 49.5%, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, up two consecutive months from the previous month, but still below 50%.
The changes in the comprehensive index show that in June, the global manufacturing industry was still operating in a contraction range, but the continuous slight increase in the index means that the recovery of global manufacturing industry has increased. By region, Asian manufacturing is operating in the expansion range and is still an important support for the stable recovery of the global economy; manufacturing in the Americas, Africa and Europe are all in the contraction range, but the recovery intensity has increased to varying degrees compared with the previous month.
In June, the PMI of America's manufacturing industry was 48.6%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month and below 49% for four consecutive months, indicating that the American manufacturing industry remained in the contraction range and its recovery was weak. The PMI of European manufacturing industry was 48.8%, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, and rose slightly for six consecutive months, but the index level has not yet exceeded 49%, indicating that European manufacturing industry continues to recover slowly, but the recovery intensity continues to be weak.
In June, the PMI of Asian manufacturing was 50.7%, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that Asian manufacturing continued to remain in the expansion range, and the recovery intensity increased compared with the previous month, which better supported the recovery of the global economy, and major countries in the region have positive changes. During the same period, the African manufacturing PMI was 49.7%, up 1 percentage point from the previous month, ending the month-on-month decline trend for two consecutive months, but it is still below 50%.
Analysts believe that the global economic recovery is still facing downward pressure. The future is full of uncertainty and has become the basic consensus reached by countries around the world in exploring the path of economic recovery. Faced with uncertain turmoil, strengthening multilateral cooperation and consolidating the foundation of global market demand are the certain directions to ensure the stable recovery of the global economy.
