China Sany Group's South Africa Industrial Park completed, expected to produce 1,000 excavators annually
On 19th, 2025, the South African Industrial Park of Chinese enterprise Sany Group was completed in Johannesburg. The industrial park integrates manufacturing, logistics and talent centers and will further assist the development and industrialization process of South Africa's manufacturing industry.
According to reports, the industrial park will start construction in 2023, covering an area of 28,000 square meters. It is expected to have an annual output of 1,000 excavators and will radiate to the entire African market.
Guo Ruiguang, vice president of SANY Group and chairman of the African Region Business Unit, said at the completion ceremony that the group first launched its global layout in Africa. Currently, the cumulative sales of equipment in Africa exceed 3 billion US dollars, and the service network has covered all African countries.
"This is not only an industrial park, but also a comprehensive platform integrating manufacturing, logistics and talent training, which will create more than 100 new jobs for the local area." Guo Ruiguang said.
Judith Tshabalala, Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor of South Africa, expressed her appreciation for the completion of the industrial park and said that the project reflects the confidence of Chinese enterprises in South Africa's economic prospects and their long-term commitment to the region.
“The most striking aspect of this project is its investment in skills development and technology transfer. By training and upskilling the workforce, it will help South Africa develop a new generation of technicians and engineers,” she said.
Qiu Zhongyi, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, said that over the years, SANY Group has developed from an equipment seller to a participant and contributor to South Africa's industrialization process.
Qiu Zhongyi said that South Africa is one of China's most important investment destinations in Africa. Chinese companies create jobs, contribute tax revenue and create opportunities for the common development of the two countries.
