On November 4, the head of the Department of Trade in Services of the Ministry of Commerce of China introduced the development of trade in services in the first three quarters of 2025. In the first three quarters of 2025, China's trade in services grew steadily, with a total service import and export volume of 5.93622 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 7.6%. Among them, exports were 2,601.5 billion yuan, an increase of 14.4%; imports were 3,334.72 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%; the service trade deficit was 733.22 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 238.24 billion yuan. Knowledge-intensive service trade maintained growth. In the first three quarters, the import and export of knowledge-intensive services was 2.27059 billion yuan, an increase of 6.4%. Among them, the import and export of other business services, telecommunications computers and information services were 966.38 billion yuan and 794.06 billion yuan, with growth rates of 3.9% and 10.6% respectively. Exports of knowledge-intensive services were 1,317.76 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2%; imports of knowledge-intensive services were 952.83 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%; the surplus was 364.93 billion yuan, an increase of 85.73 billion yuan over the same period last year.
Exports of travel services grew rapidly. In the first three quarters, travel services grew rapidly, with imports and exports reaching 1,637.25 billion yuan, an increase of 8.8%. Among them, exports increased by 54.4% and imports increased by 2.7%.
