Brazil is considering appealing to the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding U.S. steel tariffs

According to a report by Reuters on March 27, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that U.S. President Donald Trump's practice of imposing tariffs may damage the U.S. economy and stated that Brazil would file a complaint with the World Trade Organization over U.S. tariffs on Brazilian steel products.

Lula said at a press conference in Tokyo on March 27, "This will raise commodity prices and may lead to inflation that he has not yet realized. Protectionism does not help any country in the world."

Lula said, "We have two decisions to make. One is to resort to the World Trade Organization, and we will do so. The other is to impose higher tariffs on U.S. products. We cannot remain silent."

In an interview, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that the U.S. president has the right to make relevant decisions, but needs to consider the consequences of these decisions, and pointed out that these U.S. tariffs will raise product prices and further exacerbate inflation within the United States.
