On October 27, the Stainless Steel Branch of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association released statistical data on China's stainless steel production, import and export volume, and apparent consumption from January to September 2025. The details are as follows:
1. China’s stainless steel crude steel output
China's stainless steel crude steel output from January to September 2025 was 30.4618 million tons, an increase of 1.3869 million tons or 4.77% compared with the same period in 2024. Among them, the output of Cr-Ni series stainless steel was 15.6209 million tons, an increase of 921,600 tons, an increase of 6.27%, and the share increased by 0.72 percentage points year-on-year to 51.28%; the output of Cr-Mn series stainless steel was 8.9099 million tons, an increase of 385,900 tons, an increase of 4.53%, and the share decreased by 0.07 year-on-year. percentage points to 29.25%; the output of Cr series stainless steel was 5.5827 million tons, an increase of 34,700 tons, an increase of 0.62%, and the share decreased by 0.76 percentage points year-on-year to 18.33%; the output of duplex stainless steel was 348,329 tons, an increase of 44,698 tons year-on-year, an increase of 14.72%, and the share increased to 1.14%.
2. China’s stainless steel import and export volume
From January to September 2025, China's stainless steel imports totaled 1.138 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 308,900 tons, or 21.35%.
From January to September 2025, the total export volume was 3.7827 million tons, an increase of 60,900 tons year-on-year, an increase of 1.64%;
From January to September 2025, the total net export volume was 2.6448 million tons, an increase of 369,800 tons year-on-year, an increase of 16.25%.
3. China’s apparent consumption of stainless steel
The apparent consumption of stainless steel from January to September 2025 was 24.9123 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 905,900 tons, an increase of 3.77%.
